Isla Holbox SpayNeuter Project

why spay/neuter matters

Picture
The dogs and cats we see often suffer from malnutrition, parasites, and over-breeding.

Without spay/neuter, these animals will typically have multiple litters, many of which will die of starvation, disease, or poisoning. Multiple pregnancies, especially without access to medical care, can put the mothers at risk for life-threatening infections and illnesses, and without adequate nutrition, repeated pregnancies are very taxing on an animal’s overall health.

If they survive into adulthood, unwanted dogs and cats often turn feral and pose a danger to humans and their pets as well.

The majority of the dogs and cats we treat are brought to us by the people who love them.

Resources are limited in the towns we serve, and pets often go without meals or veterinary care. By reducing the number of unwanted animals and providing education on animal husbandry, we can improve life for dogs and cats, and strengthen the bond between pets and their people.
